I know it might be shocking, it might shake your reality a little and it might even make you a little mad (it should!!) but I want to let you know that you are being lied to.  Often, and about a great many things in this world!  The lies we are being fed are as old as this world, and have been told for countless generations to every human that has breathed the air of this miraculous planet.  “There is nothing new under the sun” the Bible tells us, because it has been done and said before.  The same lies that satan attempted to tempt Jesus with are the same lies being told to us today, just in a different format.  Today will be my first post in a series about the lies we are told daily and the truth that God gives us to combat these lies.

Fear

Today I want to talk about fear.  It is so widespread now it almost seems like a religion of its own.  People all over the world are bowing down to fear in their lives and living their lives in accordance to fear.  We cannot follow suit, we are not of this world (John 15:19) we were not meant to live in fear of anything.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2nd Timothy 1:7) and yet the world lies to us daily, selling us fear, telling us to be timid and afraid.  The lie of fear is by far the largest lie that has been sold to us recently.  God did not design us to live in fear, He did not design us to be afraid of everything and everyone around us.  This message goes all the way back to the old testament and has not wavered through the ages, Isaiah 41:10 tells us, “  Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

God’s Promises are Not Empty

Don’t be afraid, I will strengthen you and help you God promises, yes that is a promise not just an empty sentence.  God promises he will hold us up and tells us he has not given us a spirit of fear, it is not from Him!  Even the mighty King and warrior David relied on God’s truth and showed us he struggled with fear as well when he wrote Psalm 27:!, “ The Lord is my light and my salvation so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?”  So you can see that this is not a new problem and God is well versed at helping us through it.

God just needs you to ask him for help, to learn the truths He has given us through the Bible and to lean on him for strength to carry you.  I can promise you that God is bigger and stronger than anything in this world.  There is no person or thing that can stand against Him, and you have His Holy Spirit within you, so you have nothing to fear.  Fear is a powerful thing that can destroy our lives if we let it but God has given us many weapons to fight it.  Turn off the tv and the news, get away from social media for a while and spend time with God, learn the verses attached below and trust.  The world wants you to be in fear, it wants you to be scared and ineffective but by giving your life to Jesus you have become more powerful than the world, start living like it!

Strength is Found in Truth

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
