In society today we are so focused on people that have money and fame and not keeping the focus on integrity enough.  We spend so much time watching these people, commenting on their lives and spending money to try to be like them that we lose sight of what is really important.  Becoming a better person, working on ourselves, taking care of others, and generally not worrying about someone else’s life that is plastered all over tv and social media.  I really don’t know what it is about us that draws us into the lives of famous people. Why do we focus on their success or failures so much and worry about being like them so much? What makes them so special in our eyes?

We are all the same…imperfect humans trying to do our best

Let me tell you a secret, they are just like you and me! They are people, with fears and doubts and struggles.  They struggle with life and fail at things just like us. They just happen to be in the public eye and usually have a lot more money than you and I might have!  Now don’t get me wrong, there is nothing inherently wrong with being famous or having more money than you could ever spend in a lifetime of spending money. The real problem lies in how you get there and what you do if you do get there.

Nothing is worth giving up your integrity, you worked hard for it!

To wrap up our discussion of integrity I want to encourage you all to not go a direction in your life that is not lead by the integrity that you have built up and created in yourself.  You have hopefully worked hard to change your life and change your habits to create a focus on integrity in your life and nothing is worth giving that up for. No amount of money or fame is worth giving up your integrity.

No matter how much fame, money or power we have we are still human and we can still fail

Another secret to tell you is that money doesn’t buy happiness.  You have all heard that statement but do you believe it? I do and I see the evidence of it in many rich and famous people that still have so many struggles in their life.  They check into rehab for addictions to drugs, alcohol, sexual addictions and many other issues that money and fame has not healed them of.

The struggle is being imperfect and a work in progress…and being ok with it!

Many go right back to the same lifestyle and often fall into the same patterns as before and end up where they started.  They struggle with the same things that you and me struggle with, depression, lack of motivation, desire for change but unable to accomplish it and even feelings of failure and hopelessness.  They are just like everyone else because humanity is littered with imperfect people that are a work in progress. We ALL have our issues and problems.  We really need to focus on integrity.

The reality is that none of these human conditions can be fixed by money, fame, power or any of the other things we often chase after to feel complete so we really need to stop striving for these things!

Instead we should all be working towards something that can be fulfilling and can bring us happiness.  I challenge you to think about how being a person of integrity can change your life for the better. It will, I promise you that.  I have seen the evidence of it in my life and countless others around me who have focused on integrity and have reaped the fruit of that decision for the rest of their lives.  Many things will come through your journey to a better you and to a person of integrity. Happiness and true fulfillment are within your grasp. Just remember to focus on what matters, not what the rest of the world says matters, and be the best you that you can be and remember, you are just getting started!
